About the Conference

Today, Portuguese and international companies based in Portugal/South Europe have demonstrated an ability to react, indicating a growing concern to adopt good international practices in software engineering, as a way to foster their capabilities for their sustained growth, higher competitiveness and internationalization, also complying with the latest European/international legislation on data privacy and protection thus increasing their level of compliance and facilitating access to new markets, both in Portugal and internationally to their global base of customers.

Steptalks is back for a renewed edition and, motivated by these themes, intends to bring together specialists in a wide range of areas such as Software Engineering & Industry 4.0 as well as Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity (including Blockchain). This way, the latest trends focusing on improving engineering processes and privacy / data protection can be share with our audience.

Pedro Castro Henriques

CEO and Co-founder of StrongStep

CEO and Co-founder of Strongstep – Innovation center in Software Quality. Previously Head of IT in ERS – Portuguese National Health Regulation entity, where he managed the national system supervising healthcare entities, and before that, in Ericsson (Q-Labs), in global processes improvement and supporting technology transfer programs. He has strong experience in process improvement, and in the implementation and certification in quality in software development (CMMI, ITMARK, AGILE, ASPICE, Industry 4.0, SCRUM, TSP/PSP) and information security (Iso27001, GDPR & DPO) and 15 years’ experience as executive and board roles in the consulting and technology business. Pedro is a consultant in software engineering, and has worked in 12 countries (Europe, Africa and America) in process, tools and organization improvement – more than 20 years of experience, including consultancy in software engineering, business strategy, and information system.

Ana Rodrigues

Quality Manager for Altran Portugal delivery

Ana Rodrigues is the Quality Manager for Altran Portugal delivery.  She holds a graduation in Information Management and Computer Science and Postgraduation in Information Systems and Technologies for Organizations. Working in IT since 1998, most of the years working as a project manager and as a quality manager after the implementation of CMMI in Altran in 2013.

Responsible for the implementation and institutionalization of processes defined for the delivery area of Altran Portugal. Monitoring and quality control of projects and continuous process improvement. Altran Portugal delivery processes are align with the CMMI L3 for development, ISO 9001, ISO 20 000, ISO 27 0001, ASPICE, TISAX and PMBok.

Teresa Martins

CEO, Co-founder and Chairman of Board of Directors at Neadvance – Machine Vision SA.

Graduated in Systems Engineering and IT from the University of Minho, began her professional career in 1991 in software development.

In 2017, founded Neadvance-Machine Vision SA, acting as CEO, maintaining a shareholder´s position at Enermeter – Sistemas de Medição Lda. She is also Chairman of Produtech Fiscal Council.

Duarte Gomes

Consultant at Strongstep

Duarte Gomes with a master’s degree in Software Engineering and graduation in Information Science. He is currently a consultant in Strongstep Innovation in Software Quality, in sectors like Industry, Telco and Health improving and implementing software processes and their best practices in organizations.
He also has experience in the application of different models of software development processes such as CMMI, Itmark, iso and Scrum Master, Product owner of Strongstep project management tool Scraim.

Orlando Rodrigues

Marlos Silva graduated in Business Administration at University of Pernambuco (Brazil) and

holds a M.Sc. in Accounting and Auditory at University of Aveiro (Portugal). Following a career in the financial sector in Brazil he accumulates 14 years of experience in innovation management in Portugal and USA, serving in management and leadership positions throughout government agencies, universities, private companies and clusters. He nowadays leads the Granted Projects Department at Sonae, leading the team who manages incentives and grants while engaging the group subholdings into collaborative projects in the fields of R&D and Innovation, Sustainability and Human Resources.

Juan Garate

Juan Garate received his degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Basque Country University in 1999.
He is currently the International Business development Director of the ICT Division of Tecnalia Research and Innovation, responsible for international market business development in technologies such as Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and IoT.

He also has experience in the application of different models of software development processes such as, cmmi, itil, iso, efqm and certifications such as EN 50128, EN 50129.

Tânia Machado de Almeida is currently the Data Protection Officer of Strongstep and senior consultant for privacy matters, both in public and private sectors. She helps clients from technology, pharmaceutical and other sectors to achieve compliance with their data protection obligations, with special focus on GDPR, ISO 27001 and Cyber Security. Tânia holds a master in Law, from Católica Global School, and is a Certified Data Protection Officer (PECB).

She is also a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and quartermaster for the Portugal branch ate the European Association of Data Protection Professionals.

Rui Gonçalves

Rui Gonçalves is a Senior Consultant and Project Manager (PMP) for Altran Portugal. He holds a graduation in Electrotechnical and Computer Engineering and Postgraduation in Information Systems. Working in IT since 1998, most of the years working as a consultant and project manager for software development projects, process improvement initiatives, audits (ISO and CMMI) and working actively for the implementation of CMMI in Altran since 2013.

Responsible for the definition of several processes and tools for the delivery area of Altran Portugal. Auditing projects and training resources of Altran Portugal on Altran Delivery Management System (aligned with CMMI L3 for development) are also part of his tasks.

Carlos Pereira

Carlos Pereira (1965) was born in Lisbon. He holds a degree in Computer Engineering (Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering (Instituto Superior Técnico). He has been head of IT department at Order of Engineers since January 2017 and Data Protection Officer in the same institution since May 2018. He has worked at Order of Engineers as a consultant since April of 1992.

Operational Manager of the Portuguese ICT Cluster – TICE.PT since 2010, is the main responsible for the representation and dissemination of TICE.PT in national and international meetings. Previously he was Leader of the Transmission Department and also of the Applied Research Department at PT Inovação. Vasco has a masters’ degree in Science in Telecommunications Systems by the University of Essex.
