The new version of NP 4552 is now available! Check the new updates to the standard

The update from NP 4552:2016 to NP 4552:2022 brings some changes to the standard.

Here are the main changes of this new version published in November 2022:

  • There was a reorganization of the requirements associated with stakeholders regarding their assessment of significance and the involvement of relevant stakeholders, which are now integrated in chapter 4 – Context of the Organization;
  • A “Compliance Obligations” requirement is included in Chapter 6 – Planning, which asks the organization to identify the legal and regulatory obligations applicable to organizations. Furthermore, in requirement 9 – Performance Assessment, the organization needs to assess compliance with these same obligations;
  • In chapter 8 – Operationalization, the name of conciliation programs was changed to conciliation actions, however, maintaining the need to establish conciliation objectives, to carry out the respective planning and to implement them actions to achieve them;
  • Include in requirement 9 – Performance Assessment, a specific requirement on “Complaints” which refers, namely, to the availability of a complaints procedure and the definition of the complaint channel, as well as the guarantee that the complainant is not the target of retaliation or retaliation;
  • Annex A now includes information on the principles that were previously described in the requirements, and a clarification of the application of principles and values ​​has been made;
  • Annex B includes information on how to identify interested parties, leaving this information next to the respective requirement;
  • Annex C includes information on how to assess the significance of aspects of reconciliation.

The standard is, compared to its previous version, more organized, intuitive and easy to understand and implement.

Organizations must transition to the new version by May 2024.
