The official website of the European Parliament (EP) was this Wednesday the target of a cyberattack, hours after MEPs approved a resolution in Strasbourg that declared Russia as a State sponsor of terrorism, based on the terrorist attacks they have carried out against Ukraine. The President of the European Parliament revealed, through Twitter, that the “sophisticated cyberattack” was assumed by the “pro-Kremlin group”.

“Our IT specialists are fighting this and protecting our systems. This, after we proclaimed Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. My answer: #SlavaUkraini”, wrote Roberta Metsola.

The last few weeks have been very intense in terms of security breaches. Earlier this week it was revealed that social security was also the target of a cyberattack, but there is no mention of the claim of the respective authorship, nor services that were targets of this attack.
